Andrew Halliday, often seen gallivanting about the pitch with the number 11 emblazoned on his back, came into the world on a dreary day in October of 1991. A native of our bonny Scotland, he's one of those fellows whose bread and butter is acting as a central midfielder - this time for Motherwell. The lad stands at 5ft 8in tall (that's 1.73m for those partial to metric measurements) and weighs in at 10st 7lb (or 67kg, again for those daring to defy imperial).
According to the good people over at Transfermarkt, our Andy is worth approximately £169k - a somewhat modest sum in today's inflated market, if we're being honest. He's currently tied down to Motherwell with a contractual tether that expires in the not too distant future of May 2026.
Back when he was still wet behind the ears in July 2007, Halliday embarked on his football journey as a trainee with Livingston. This seemingly inconsequential stint has turned into, to put it factually, a multitude of transfers and loan spells.
He made his meaningful contribution at Livingston in the 2009-2010 season with an impressive tally of 14 goals in 32 league appearances. Not one to sit still, Halliday soon found himself moving south of the border to Middlesbrough for a fee of £84k. Now, while he might have hoped to set the Championship aflame, let's say it was more of a flicker, with his best output over four seasons being 19 appearances in 2012-2013.
Halliday was then loaned to Walsall in November 2011, only to return to Middlesbrough after seven appearances. Similar plot unfolded with loans to Blackpool and a transfer to Bradford City, but the boy didn't exactly reinvent the wheel, despite a decent effort of 25 appearances and one goal for the latter.
It's at Rangers that Halliday had a somewhat more fruitful spell. He wore their colours for five seasons from 2015, with his best performance being 35 appearances and five goals in his debut season. However, it wasn't all smooth sailing in Glasgow, for he popped over to Azerbaijan - yes, you read that right - for a stint with Qəbələ. Don't fret though; his taste for Haggis soon saw him return to Rangers before eventually getting fed up and transferring to Hearts in September of 2020.
From there, the dance continues. Following a rather uninspiring spell at Hearts, Halliday plied his trade at Motherwell on loan in January 2024 before deciding to make it official six months later. His best outing for them was in 2024-2025, with 38 appearances and three goals to his name. As of now, he is expected to pull on the Motherwell jersey for the 2025-2026 season.
Additionally, he has graced the League Cup 2025-2026 and the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 with his presence on behalf of Motherwell. A rather eventful career for Mr. Halliday filling the role of travelling footballer.
