Apostolos Stamatelopoulos, born 9th April 1999 (currently aged 26), hails from Australia. He is a forward, predominantly operating as a striker for the club Motherwell. With a height of 6ft (approximately 1.84m) and weighing 13st 3lb (or 84kg), his athletic build is indeed a force to be reckoned with on the field. He dons the number 9 jersey and has the honour of representing his homeland as a member of the Australia national team. His market value currently stands around €450k (roughly £380k, rounded to the closest whole number), according to 'Transfermarkt', which you may want to view at your discretion here: Transfermarkt.
Stamatelopoulos's first big break was in July 2017 when he joined Adelaide United in the A-League in Australia as a trainee. Over his first two seasons, he made impressive strides in the team, making a total of 14 first team appearances and netting four goals. His performances caught the attention of Western United in the National Premier Leagues Australia, to whom he transferred to in July 2019. Over the next 18 months, he made ten first team appearances for his new club.
In a surprising move in January 2021, Stamatelopoulos transferred from Western United to Newcastle United Jets. Here, he truly demonstrated his prowess as a striker, making 37 first team appearances and scoring a commendable total of 20 goals over two non-consecutive seasons: 2020 - 2021 and 2023 - 2024. Nonetheless, in between his time with Newcastle United Jets, he also spent time in Greece.
In August 2021, Stamatelopoulos transferred from Newcastle United Jets to Greek club Rodos. Just a year later, he was on the move again, this time to PAS Giannina, both in the Greek Football League. He ended his stint in Greece with 17 first team appearances for PAS Giannina over the 2022–2023 season.
He then returned to the A-League and Newcastle United Jets in July 2023, where he had his most prolific spell, scoring 17 goals in 25 appearances during the 2023-2024 season. Altering his pace in July 2024, Stamatelopoulos embarked on a fresh journey, transferring to Motherwell in Scotland for a fee around £260k.
Since joining Motherwell in 2024, he has been a strong asset for the team. He demonstrated not just his striking ability, but his resilience and adaptability to different footballing environments. His time at Motherwell, both in the 2024-2025 and the currently occurring 2025-2026 season, resulted in 25 first team appearances and nine goals. Supporting his team in the League Cup 2025 - 2026, he’s started five matches, made one substitute appearance, and bagged a goal. Additionally, he has made his mark internationally, participating in World Cup Qualifiers Asia 2024 - 2026 for Australia with one appearance as a substitute.
