Auston Trusty, born on 12 August 1998 (age 27), is an American centre-back with the kind of imposing 6ft 3in (1.91m) frame that tends to get noticed quickly in Scottish football. Before Celtic, his most productive league season came with Birmingham City in 2022-23, when he scored four goals in 44 appearances.
Celtic signed Trusty from Sheffield United in August 2024 for around £6m. He settled into the defensive pool rather than arriving as a finished article beyond debate, but he has remained a regular first-team presence into 2025-26. His Celtic spell has already brought two Premiership titles and a League Cup, along with a Scottish Cup runners-up medal.
In 2025-26, Trusty has made 26 league appearances without scoring, plus four in the Scottish Cup and seven in the Europa League, where he has scored twice. Across all competitions for Celtic, he has made 37 appearances and scored two goals. His current market value is around £5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Trusty’s career has moved from English league football to a regular role at Celtic, where he is still part of the first-team picture. He is a developing Celtic centre-back with a solid workload behind him and more to prove.
