In September 2018, Lyons took a step westward, securing a loan move to Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship. Shortly after in January 2019, the move was made permanent for an undisclosed fee. However, Lyons found his time split between Blackburn and a loan stint another stride north, with St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Here he made 15 first team appearances, scoring a solitary league goal during the 2018-2019 season.
Upon completion of his loan at St Mirren in June 2019, Lyons returned to Blackburn Rovers, but his journey was far from over. A year later, in January 2021, he ventured down to Morecambe FC on loan, who were at the time plying their trade in the English National League.
It was in July 2021 that Lyons found his current residence back north at Kilmarnock, once again in the Scottish Premiership. From the 2022-2023 season to the present 2025-2026 season, Lyons has become a staple in the team, appearing 93 times in league matches and scoring 4 goals. Beyond the league, he has also showcased his skills in competitions such as the League Cup and Scottish Cup for Kilmarnock, plus the World Cup Qualifiers and Nations League for Northern Ireland.
