Cameron Carter-Vickers, born on 31 December 1997, is a central defender for Celtic who also represents the United States national team. With a stature of 6ft (1.84m) and a weight of 14st 6lb (92kg), Carter-Vickers is a notable presence on the football field and dons the number 20 jersey. He currently has a market value of around €14.00m (£11.5m according to Transfermarkt).
Beginnings of his football career saw him train with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League in July 2009. Over the years, Carter-Vickers was sent on numerous loan spells where he built his reputation as a reliable defender. His first loan spell was to Sheffield United in August 2017, where he netted his first league goal and made 17 appearances in his debut season. Another loan to Ipswich Town and subsequently to Swansea City deemed successful, with him earning regular first-team appearances.
Short stints at Stoke city and a League One club, Luton Town, followed before he landed at Bournemouth in the Premier League marking his comeback to the topflight English Football. During his time at Bournemouth, he made 21 first team appearances and scored one goal in league matches.
In August 2021, a significant turning point came in his career when he joined Celtic on loan. Playing in the green and white, Carter-Vickers proved to be a valuable asset. After recording 33 appearances and four goals in the league matches of the 2021-2022 season, he was purchased by Celtic for a fee of approximately £6m in July 2022.
The following seasons at Celtic witnessed continued success for Carter-Vickers. The 2022-2023 season saw a total of 29 first team appearances. The 2023-2024 season saw 25 appearances and a goal, and the 2024-2025 continued in the same vein with 30 appearances and one goal. The current season (2025-2026) sees him already racking up four appearances.
His talent hasn't been limited to league football alone, as Carter-Vickers has outstandingly represented Celtic in Champions League 2023-2024 with three starts and one appearance as a substitute, in the League Cup 2025-2026 with one start, in the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 with four starts, and in the Champions League Qualifiers 2025-2026 with two starts. On the international stage, he made an appearance as a substitute in the Copa America 2024 for the United States.
