Cameron Carter-Vickers was born in Southend-on-Sea on 31 December 1997 (age 28) and represents the United States. A central defender, he came through Tottenham Hotspur’s system, but his footballing education was built mainly away from Spurs, with loan spells giving him the regular senior matches that were never likely to arrive quickly in north London.
That grounding mattered. Carter-Vickers arrived at Celtic from Tottenham in August 2021 and settled with a speed that made the move look rather less complicated than it might have been. He brought strength, calm distribution and a welcome lack of drama to the middle of the defence, wearing the No. 20 shirt and becoming a reliable part of a side that needed exactly that.
His first league season at Celtic remains his most productive in front of goal, with four goals in 33 appearances in 2021-22. The wider value, though, has been in the steadiness. During his time at the club he has won three Premiership titles, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups, a return that reflects both his own consistency and the side he helped anchor.
He remains part of the current Celtic squad. In 2025-26, he has made seven league appearances, along with one in the League Cup, two in Champions League qualifying and three in the Europa League, giving him 13 appearances across all competitions so far. His market value is around £8.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Carter-Vickers’ career has moved from Tottenham prospect, through the necessary grind of loans, to an established Celtic centre-half with medals behind him and a place still to hold. It is a solid arc, and a useful one for Celtic.
