Dan Neil, born on 30 November 2001 (age 24), is an English central midfielder whose senior career has been shaped mainly by Sunderland. He came through there and became a proper first-team player rather than a passing academy name.
Across four league seasons with Sunderland, Neil made 134 league appearances and scored eight goals. His most productive league campaign came in 2023-24, when he scored four times in 42 appearances, a fair return for a midfielder more often used to connect play than finish it.
His career later took him to Rangers, where he has been used as a central or defensive midfielder. In 2026-27, he has made nine league appearances, added three League Cup appearances with two goals, and also featured in Europa League and Conference League qualifying. Across all competitions for Rangers, he has 15 appearances and two goals.
