David Strelec, born on 4 April 2001 (age 25), is a Slovak striker with Middlesbrough. He came through at Slovan Bratislava, where his early senior football gave him a proper platform rather than just a tidy line on a CV.
His best league return came with Slovan in 2020-21, when he scored nine goals in 25 appearances. For a young centre-forward, that was useful evidence of progress: enough end product to be taken seriously, without anyone needing to pretend he had solved the position.
Strelec is now with Middlesbrough, where his 2026-27 campaign has so far brought one League Cup appearance and three in the Championship Play-offs. Across all competitions for the club, he has made four appearances. His market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt.
At international level, he has remained involved with Slovakia this season, making seven appearances in European World Cup qualifying and scoring twice. His career to this point has been built around steady senior exposure, a productive spell at Slovan, and the ongoing task of turning that into a firmer role in England.
