Dujon Sterling (age 26) came through at Chelsea, where the first serious work of his career was done away from Stamford Bridge. Early loan spells gave him proper senior football and, more usefully, a chance to settle into the right-back role over a run of games rather than in the stop-start way that often comes with big-club development.
That stage of his career mattered. He had the usual academy pedigree, but the loans were where he began to look like an established professional rather than a prospect in transit. By the time he moved on permanently, he had already done some of the less glamorous grounding that tends to tell you more about a player than youth-level reputation ever does.
He joined Rangers as a right-back and has since become a familiar part of their squad. His most productive league season came in 2025-26, when he scored two goals in 14 appearances. Rangers also picked up a League Cup during his time there, which is about as much silver lining as their support will usually require.
In 2026-27 he has made 11 appearances in all competitions, including four in the league, with further outings in both domestic cups and in European qualifying. By that point his career looked fairly settled: an England-born defender whose progress was shaped by early loan football before he found a regular place in the senior game at Rangers.
