Emmanuel Fernandez, born on 20 November 2001 (age 24), is a Nigerian central defender whose senior profile is now tied firmly to Rangers. An imposing 6ft 4in (1.94m) centre-back, he has become a regular part of their first-team picture rather than a passing squad name.
The 2025-26 season has given his Rangers spell its substance. He has made 24 league appearances and scored five league goals, a useful return for a defender and comfortably his most productive league campaign. Across all competitions for Rangers, he has reached 30 appearances and six goals, including one goal in the League Cup, one Scottish Cup appearance and four in the Europa League.
His form this season has been strong overall, though it has dipped a little lately. Even so, he remains part of the current Rangers side, which is probably the simplest measure of his standing there. His market value is around £7.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Fernandez’s career, as it stands, is defined overwhelmingly by Rangers: 30 appearances, six goals, and a regular role in 2025-26. For a defender still only 24, that is a clear enough shape without needing to dress it up.
