Graham Carey, born on 20 May 1989 (age 37), is an Irish left winger who came through Celtic before moving on to build a solid senior career elsewhere. His time at Celtic did not turn into a long first-team story, though he was part of a squad that finished runners-up in the Premiership.
He left Celtic in July 2011 for St Mirren, a sensible move for a player needing regular football rather than another season on the edge. Away from Celtic, he also won a League Cup, adding a proper medal to a career that has taken in more than one setting.
Carey’s most productive spell came with Plymouth Argyle. In 2016-17 he scored 14 league goals in 46 appearances, comfortably his best league return and the period in which his left-footed attacking game carried the most obvious weight.
His recent form has been solid overall, though his most recent outings have dipped. Transfermarkt puts his market value at around £43,000.
Carey’s career runs from Celtic beginnings to a more established identity further south, with Plymouth the club where his attacking output was clearest. It has been a steady career rather than a spectacular one, built on left-sided craft and a decent eye for goal.
