Greg Taylor was born in Greenock on 5 November 1997 (age 28) and came through at Kilmarnock before Celtic took him to Glasgow in September 2019. A Scotland left-back, he was never the most spectacular player in the side, which was rather the point. His game was built on reliability, touch, angles and a willingness to do the unglamorous work.

Most of the substance of Taylor’s senior career came at Celtic. Across six seasons he made 156 league appearances and scored six league goals, with his most productive league campaign coming in 2022-2023, when he scored three times in 31 appearances. He won four Premiership titles, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups, and was also part of squads that finished runners-up in two Scottish Cups and one Premiership.

That Celtic spell gave him a profile well beyond the tidy, functional full-back he had been at Kilmarnock. Taylor became a long-serving first-team player in a demanding position, often asked to play with more control and responsibility than a traditional left-back role allows. He did it without much fuss, which tends to be noticed only when it is missing.

He left Celtic in July 2025 for PAOK, where he wears the number three shirt and remains primarily a left-back. In 2025-2026 he has made 12 league appearances, along with one in Europa League qualifying and two in the Europa League, giving him 15 appearances in all competitions for the Greek club. His form this season has been solid and consistent.

His current market value is around £3.5m, according to Transfermarkt. Taylor’s career runs from Kilmarnock to a long, trophy-heavy Celtic spell and then on to PAOK, but it is the years at Celtic that give it its shape.
