Jacob Ramsey (born 28 May 2001, age 25) is an English centre midfielder with Newcastle United, where he wears squad number 41. His market value is around £34m, according to Transfermarkt.
Ramsey’s career has been shaped chiefly at Aston Villa. He came through there, gathered early senior experience on loan, then returned to become a regular part of the Villa midfield rather than another academy name briefly passing through. Across six league seasons with the club, he made 137 league appearances and scored 14 league goals.
His strongest league return came in 2021-22, when he scored six times in 34 appearances for Villa. That season gave a clearer sense of what he could offer: energy from midfield, a willingness to carry the ball, and enough end product to make him more than tidy decoration.
Ramsey is now at Newcastle United. In 2026-27, he has made nine appearances in all competitions, including four in the Premier League, with one league goal. The bulk of his senior career remains tied to Villa, but Newcastle is the next stage for a midfielder already well beyond the prospect label.
