Jamie McCart (born 20 June 1997, age 29) is a Scottish central defender with Hearts. He came through at Celtic as a trainee, but his senior career took shape elsewhere after he left in July 2018 for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Inverness gave him a platform after Celtic, and he later moved through Rotherham United and Hearts, but St Johnstone is the club most clearly attached to his career. Across three seasons in Perth he made 82 league appearances, scoring once, with his busiest league campaign coming in 2021-22 when he played 37 times and got that goal.
That St Johnstone spell also brought the medals: a Scottish Cup and a League Cup. It was the period in which McCart became an established top-flight defender rather than just another former Celtic youngster looking for minutes.
At Hearts in 2026-27, he has made 12 appearances across the league, domestic cups and European qualifiers, including four in the league. His career has been shaped by leaving Celtic early, building steadily, and finding his strongest run at St Johnstone before continuing with Hearts.
