Joe Wright, born on 26 February 1995 (age 31), is a Welsh central defender with Dundee, where he wears squad number 26. At 6ft 4in (1.93m), he is an imposing centre-half, and his career is best measured through the steady accumulation of games rather than any great noise around him.
Kilmarnock is the spell that gives his career its shape. Across three seasons at Rugby Park, Wright made 91 league appearances and scored 10 league goals. His strongest attacking return came in 2022-23, when he scored five times in 34 league matches, a useful output for a defender and a fair reflection of his set-piece value.
He is now with Dundee. In 2026-27, he has made two league appearances, with his form described as solid when involved. He has been out of the matchday squad recently, with his last appearance coming in Hearts 2-1 Dundee on 6 September 2026.
Wright’s senior career is defined overwhelmingly by Kilmarnock, with Dundee the current chapter. He remains an experienced, physically strong central defender with a substantial body of Scottish Premiership work behind him.
