Born in the Republic of Ireland on June 6th, 2003, Johnny Kenny (22) is a passionate forward who plays mainly as a striker for Bolton Wanderers and can be seen donning the number 9 jersey. He braces an imposing height of 1.77m (5ft 9in), and sports a sturdy physique at 71kg (11st 2lb). Johnny began his professional career at Sligo Rovers in January 2020, and in his debut 2021 season at Sligo Rovers, he made a spirited start to his journey, with a total of 32 first-team appearances and 11 successful goals to his credit.
In January 2022, Johnny made it over to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, with a transfer fee rounding to about £140k, after conversion from Euros, as reported by Transfermarkt. Following the move, in season 2024 - 2025, he registered his presence with eight first team appearances and a goal. He maintained his momentum in the ongoing season 2025 - 2026 and so far, made about 15 first team appearances with four goals added to his tally.
Johnny was transferred on loan to Queen's Park in the Scottish Championship in August 2022. During 2022 - 2023 season at Queen's Park, he made 12 first-team appearances. The young striker then returned on loan to Republic of Ireland, joining Shamrock Rovers where he showcased his talent by making 30 first team appearances and bagging five goals in the season 2023. His next season at Shamrock Rovers had him shining brighter, rounding off at 29 first team appearances and an admirable 13 goals.
Following the conclusion of his loan, there was a pleased Celtic waiting to embrace its player back again in January 2025. In the same season, he added another eight appearances and a goal to his resume. He continued to serve Celtic in the ongoing 2025 - 2026 season, resulting in 15 first team appearances and four goals. However, this did not last, and Johnny was transferred to Bolton Wanderers in England's League One in February 2026.
Even on foreign soil, Johnny continues his journey with the same vigour and so far in current season 2025 - 2026, he contributed seven appearances and a goal to the team's account. Infusing national spirit into his career, Johnny also made an appearance as a substitute in the World Cup Qualifiers Europe 2024 -2026 representing the Republic of Ireland.
