Johnny Kenny is a Republic of Ireland striker, born in Riverstown, County Sligo, on 9 June 2003 (age 22). Celtic brought him in from Sligo Rovers in January 2022 for around £140,000, a modest fee for a young forward who had already done enough at home to make the move across the water.
His Celtic career has not been a straight line. Kenny has had to build his case away from Glasgow as much as in it, with his most productive league season coming at Shamrock Rovers in 2024, when he scored 13 goals in 29 appearances. That was the spell that gave his development a bit more substance, rather than just promise.
In 2025-26, Kenny made 15 league appearances for Celtic, scoring four goals, before spending time on loan at Bolton Wanderers, where he added six goals in 14 league games. He has also been involved with the Republic of Ireland this season, making one appearance in European World Cup qualifying.
Still a Celtic player and currently on loan at Bolton, Kenny remains a developing striker with a market value of around £510,000, according to Transfermarkt. His career so far has been shaped by early promise at Sligo, a move to Celtic, and the need to turn useful loan spells into a lasting role.
