Jonah Ayunga, an English football forward who primarily features as a right winger, boasts a respectable career within the sport. Born on the 24th of May, 1997, the Englishman currently serves St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Standing at an impressive 1.85m in height (roughly 6ft), Ayunga's physical prowess on the pitch is unquestionable with a weight of 78kg (approximately 12st 3lb). He proudly adorns the number 11 on his jersey, representing his relevance and the responsibility that his role entails in every match.
His journey started when he was transferred on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League to the notably less prominent side, Sligo Rovers in the Republic of Ireland Premier Division in January 2017. Here, in his debut season, Ayunga was able to secure 21 first team appearances and scored four goals in league events.
However, by July 2017, this promising young player had once again been on move; although the conditions remained the same with another loan transfer to Galway United, also in the Republic of Ireland Premier Division. Slightly less remarkable, Ayunga only managed two appearances for the first team in the league during this short tenure.
In July 2018, he moved from Brighton & Hove Albion to Sutton United in the English National League, and then onto Havant & Waterlooville in the English National League South in November of the same year for an undisclosed fee. Mere weeks later, he found himself returning to Sutton United with the same clandestine conditions surrounding the transfer dealings.
The pattern continued as Ayunga transferred back to Havant & Waterlooville in July of 2019 and by 2020 he had left for Bristol Rovers in England's League Two, once again for an anonymous fee. July 2021 saw his career take him to Morecambe in the English National League, still for an unknown transfer cost.
Currently playing for St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership since his transfer in July 2022, Ayunga's performances continue to attract attention. Across four seasons (2022 - 2026), he made a total of 87 appearances and scored 12 goals in league competitions. With two goals in five starts and three appearances as a substitute in the League Cup 2025 - 2026, and by participating in the Scottish Cup 2025 - 2026 with one start, Ayunga's contributions are undoubtedly impactful and he is always one to watch on the pitch.
