Born on the 13th of August, 2001 in the United States, the 24-year-old right-back, Julián Araujo, plays for Celtic Football Club. The defender, who stands 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall and weighs 11st (70kg), dons the number 22 jersey for the Bhoys. Aside from his club commitments, Araujo has represented the Mexico national team.
Araujo's current market value is roughly £9m according to Transfermarkt.
Araujo began his professional career with the LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. He joined the franchise in March 2019 and made 18 first-team league appearances in his debut season. He continued to feature regularly for the Galaxy over the next three seasons, making 17, 32, and 33 appearances respectively and even added a goal to his name in the 2020 campaign.
In January 2023, he made a significant leap across the Atlantic, signing for La Liga giants, Barcelona, for a fee in the region of £3.5m. His tenure in Catalonia was short-lived as he was sent out on loan to Las Palmas, in the Segunda División, later that summer. At Las Palmas, he made 25 first-team appearances and found his way into the back of the net.
Upon returning to Barcelona in the summer of 2024, Araujo sought a move away from the club and transferred to Premier League side, Bournemouth, for an undisclosed fee. His stint in England was also brief, as he made only 12 first-team appearances in their league campaign.
It wasn't until January 2026, that Julián Araujo found his path leading him to the East end of Glasgow, when he secured a loan move to Celtic. To date in the current season (2025 - 2026), Araujo has made a promising start - he has appeared ten times in the league for the Hoops, finding the net once.
Furthermore, Araujo has been involved in other competitions as well this season. He's featured for Celtic in Scottish Cup with two starts and in the Europa League with one start. For his national side, he represented Mexico in the 2025 Gold Cup, starting twice.
