Kieran Tierney was born on 5 June 1997 (age 29) in the Isle of Man and represents Scotland. A left-back by trade, he made his name at Celtic with the sort of direct, hard-running game that did not need much translation for the support.
His first spell at Celtic brought serious substance as well as affection: six Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups. In August 2019 he left for Arsenal for around £25m, a fee that reflected both his standing at Celtic and the wider market’s habit of discovering Scottish players once they move south.
Tierney returned to Celtic from Arsenal in July 2025 and quickly became a regular first-team presence again. Wearing squad number 63, he has made 35 league appearances in 2025-2026, scoring six goals – his most productive league season – along with three Scottish Cup appearances and nine in the Europa League. Across all competitions for Celtic this season, he has played 47 times and scored six goals.
He has also remained involved with Scotland, making three European World Cup qualifying appearances this season and scoring once. His current market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt.
Tierney’s career has run from Celtic prominence to Arsenal and back again, with his return giving the current side an experienced left-back who still carries influence rather than just history.
