LASK, founded in 1908, are one of Austria’s more established names and now operate out of the Raiffeisen Arena. Their current season has placed them third in the Bundesliga, with Champions League football also on the card after involvement in the play-off round and the League Phase.
They are not a side short of goals. At home they are averaging 2.5 scored and 0.8 conceded, while their away figures are even more open: 2.6 scored and 1.2 conceded. That attacking output is spread, but Christoph Lang’s 13 goals make him the clear reference point, ahead of Samuel Adeniran on eight and Florian Flecker on five.
There is an early punch to their league work as well, with LASK scoring inside the first 20 minutes in eight of 18 matches. Recent form has been uneven rather than poor: a 4-0 win at Austria Lustenau followed a 0-2 home defeat to Rapid Vienna, with a 3-3 draw at TSV Hartberg and a 2-1 loss at Sturm Graz also in the recent run.
With a 31-man squad averaging 24 years old, LASK look like a young, productive side sitting firmly in Austria’s upper tier. For Celtic supporters, they profile as credible European opposition: athletic, capable of scoring home or away, but not without defensive gaps.
