Marcus Fraser, born on 23 June 1994 (age 32), is a Scottish central defender whose senior career began in Celtic’s system before taking shape elsewhere. He came through at Celtic as a trainee, but left in January 2015 for Ross County, a move that gave him the regular football needed at that stage.
At Ross County, Fraser started to build a proper senior profile. His 2014–15 league season brought 16 appearances and one goal, the most productive league return of his early career, before the next, more settled phase arrived at St Mirren.
It is at St Mirren that Fraser’s career has had its real weight. Across seven seasons he has made 214 league appearances and scored four league goals, becoming a regular presence in a side where reliability has mattered more than fuss. Primarily used at centre-back, he has been one of those Scottish Premiership defenders who is usually there, usually involved, and rarely in need of a headline.
He remained firmly in the St Mirren first-team picture in 2025–26, making 31 league appearances and scoring once. He also played four times in the League Cup, three times in the Scottish Cup and twice in the Premiership play-offs, scoring once there, for a total of 40 appearances and two goals in all competitions that season.
Fraser’s career has run from Celtic’s youth set-up through Ross County and into a long, established spell at St Mirren. The Celtic connection is the starting point, but the body of the work has been done in Paisley.
