Matthew Connelly, born on 2 March 2003 (age 23), is a Scottish goalkeeper whose senior career has centred far more on Airdrieonians than anywhere else. His early first-team football included five league appearances for Stranraer in 2022-23, a useful enough grounding without needing dressed up as more than that.
Airdrieonians gave him the clearest run of his career to date. In 2025-26 he made 11 league appearances for the club, the stretch that most plainly shaped his profile as a senior goalkeeper.
He later moved on to Motherwell, where he made one league appearance in 2025-26. His market value is around £43,000, according to Transfermarkt.
Connelly’s career so far is a modest Scottish goalkeeping CV: early minutes at Stranraer, a more substantial spell at Airdrieonians, and a step into Motherwell’s first-team picture.
