Finnish foot-baller, Oliver Antman was hatched on 15th August 2001, and courtesy of the rigours of time, finds himself at the ripe age of 24. He hacks around the field as a forward, trotting out most often as a right winger for Rangers, a club which I am duty-bound to point out, is not Celtic. He stretches to an imperial 6ft (or an incredibly metric 1.85m), and weighs 11st 6lb (a thoroughly grounded 73kg). He's been assigned the 18 jersey for some unfathomable reason (possibly due to the Scottish fondness for deep-fried food, I am not certain). Antman has also had the dubious pleasure of representing the Finnish national team.
With a healthy dose of scepticism, we turn our attention to his current market value. According to those over at Transfermarkt, our Finnish friend sits at a thrifty £4m, not that we're counting or anything.
Antman made the questionable decision to traipse from IF Gnistan (of the Veikkausliiga in Finland), to FC Nordsjaelland (parked in the Superliga in Denmark), for a purported fee of around £45k, in August 2018. Great success was not instantly catapulted his way, perhaps illustrating that money isn't everything in football (although most footballers would beg to differ).
In the gruelling seasons of 2019 through to 2025 at FC Nordsjaelland, Antman made a respectable if unspectacular boatload of first team appearances, his goal scorecard gradually inching upwards, nothing however to set the world on fire. Then in 2023 he decided to sample the windmills and clogs on a loan stint with FC Groningen over in the Eredivisie in Netherlands, before bouncing back to FC Nordsjaelland on completion of his loan.
Apparently unsated by his earlier Dutch adventure, he found himself being shipped off to the Eredivisie in the Netherlands again in August 2024, this time to Go Ahead Eagles - a team not known for their Celtic connections. Arriving for a relative pittance of £1.3m, his tenure there would prove brief but fruitful, with 32 first team appearances and six goals to his name.
By August 2025, Antman had swapped clogs for kilts, making a £3m move to Rangers in Premiership Scotland. The current season has seen him slotted into the squad regularly enough, with 12 appearances and one goal in league matches.
Thus far with Rangers, he's been bunged into a variety of cups and qualifiers, including the Scottish Cup, World Cup Qualifiers Europe, Champions League Qualifiers, and Europa League, suggestively side-lining any mention of the 'Old Firm'. Go figure. And with that, we sign off on this biographical sketch of Oliver Antman, who, you may have noticed, never once donned the green and white hoops of Celtic.
