Ryōya Morishita, born on 11 April 1997 (age 29), is a compact Japanese attacking midfielder now with Blackburn Rovers. At 5ft 7in (1.70m), he is not built to dominate space, but his career has been shaped around movement and end product from central areas.
His most productive league season came at Legia Warsaw in 2024–25, when he scored six goals in 31 appearances. That spell gave him a firmer European profile before his move into English football with Blackburn.
For Blackburn in 2026–27, Morishita has made five Championship appearances, scoring once, along with two League Cup appearances. Across all competitions for the club, he has seven appearances and one goal. His market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
He was linked with Celtic as a possible incoming transfer target in September 2026. For now, his career is that of an established professional who has moved from Japan into Poland and then England, with Blackburn his latest step.
