Shin Yamada, born on 30 May 2000 (age 26), is a Japanese striker whose career has been shaped mainly by Kawasaki Frontale rather than by the brief Celtic chapter that followed.
At Kawasaki, he made 86 league appearances across three seasons and scored 25 league goals. His best year came in 2024, when he scored 19 times in 38 league matches, a return strong enough to put him on Celtic’s radar without requiring much dressing up.
Celtic signed Yamada from Kawasaki Frontale in July 2025 for around £1.5m. He took squad number 18, but his first spell in Glasgow was limited: eight league appearances and no goals in 2025-26 before a loan move to Preussen Munster, where he scored three times in 10 league games.
His market value is around £680,000, according to Transfermarkt. For now, Yamada’s career remains most closely tied to his productive years at Kawasaki, with Celtic and Preussen Munster forming the next, still modest, stage of it.
