Stuart Armstrong, born 30 March 1992 in Scotland, has carved a notable path through the verdant fields of his chosen sport, football. Now at the age of 33, he commands the midfield for Aberdeen, donning the number 16 jersey. This seasoned central midfielder cuts an impressive figure on the pitch standing at 6ft (1.83m) and weighing in at 11st 11lb (75kg).
His expertise and experience in the sport are well recognised, with a current market value of roughly €600k (around £510,000), according to Transfermarkt.
Armstrong first showed his mettle as a trainee at Dundee United, joining the Premiership team in July 2010. Here, he honed his skills for five seasons, showcasing a steady progression in performance and a burgeoning talent for goal-scoring. In his final season with Dundee United, he managed 20 first team appearances and six noteworthy goals.
However, it was during his tenure at Celtic, to which he transferred in February 2015 for around £1.8m, that Armstrong truly demonstrated his worth. His debut season with the Hoops saw him make 15 appearances and score his first goal for the team. Over the next three seasons, Armstrong maintained a consistent, commendable performance. The highlight of his Celtic career was arguably the 2016-2017 season when he netted an impressive 15 goals in 31 appearances.
Armstrong bid farewell to Celtic in July 2018, transferring to Southampton for around £7m. His time in the Championship saw a respectable performance throughout six seasons, logging a consistent number of appearances each season and scoring a total of 21 goals during his tenure.
From Southampton, Armstrong embarked for pastures new at the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS in the USA. Unfortunately, his time here was decidedly short, making only six appearances and scoring a single goal.
Once again on the move in January 2025, Armstrong transferred to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, for an undisclosed fee. Here, he demonstrated his versatility and seasoned nature, bagging 11 first team appearances in league matches during the 2024-2025 season.
Returning to Scotland, Armstrong signed with Aberdeen in September 2025. So far this season, he has made 20 first team appearances and found the back of the net once.
