With a birth certificate sporting 26 March 2003, Tuur Rommens is a sprightly 22-year-old lad from Belgium with an apparent love of our so-called beautiful game. His chosen position on the field? A defender - a left back to be specific. Why anyone would willingly throw themselves into this role is beyond most of us, but at 6ft(1.85m) and 11st 11lb(75kg) he’s certainly packing the physical might to cope with it. You’ll catch him wearing the number 25 jersey for Rangers if for some reason you had the desire to go looking for him.
Apparently, number crunchers over at Transfermarkt reckon young Rommens's market value is bobbing around the £4.2m mark. Wouldn’t we all kill to be a commodity worth millions at 22?
Rommens burst into our consciousness (did he, really?) by joining Genk in the Belgian Pro League as an unblemished trainee in 2012. In his debut season (2021 - 2022), he managed the monumental achievement of appearing in a solitary league match. My, how the crowds must have roared.
A year later, in July 2023, perpetually on-the-move Rommens transferred from Genk to Westerlo, some other obscure team in the Belgian Pro League for an undisclosed fee. Most likely, they were simply glad to be rid of him and let him go for a song.
During his time at Westerlo (2023 - 2024 season), Rommens got his boots on the pitch for 16 matches and even managed to knock a goal in too – it’s a Christmas miracle. The following season, he played in 28 matches and this season, he’s clocked up 15 appearances. You’d think the boy was collecting them the way he manages to be everywhere at once.
Then, in a plot twist nobody asked for, Rommens transferred from Belgium's Westerlo to Scotland's Rangers for a rather steep price of £3.1m in January 2026. In Scotland, the ever-exciting Rommens somehow squeezed in five first team appearances and scored a single goal in league matches this current season. Talk about being overpriced, eh?
As if this saga of undying mediocrity wasn’t enough, he also managed a couple of starts in the Scottish Cup 2025-2026 for Rangers. Congratulations, Mr Rommens. What will you do next, win a corner?
