União Torreense are a Portuguese club founded in 1935 and based at the Estádio Manuel Marques. They sit in Liga Portugal 2, carrying the profile of an established domestic side rather than a tourist attraction on the European map.
The current squad is sizeable – 37 players, with an average age of 24 – and is valued at around £17m by Transfermarkt. Their season has had a broader edge than their league position suggests, with appearances in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira final and the Europa League League Phase.
In the league, Torreense are twelfth and have been difficult to read from week to week. Recent results include a 0-0 draw at Portimonense, a 1-0 win over Amarante and a 2-0 away win against Benfica B, balanced against defeats to Tondela and Vizela.
Goals have been spread rather than concentrated. Manuel Pozo Guerrero leads with three, while Malik Abubakari and Dany Jean have two each. For Celtic supporters, Torreense register as a well-populated, relatively young Portuguese side with European exposure, but one still working through an uneven domestic campaign.
