Viljami Sinisalo, born on 11 October 2001 (age 24), is a Finnish goalkeeper with Celtic. A commanding 6ft 5in (1.96m), he wears squad number 12 and joined the club from Aston Villa in July 2024 for around £1m.
His early senior career had been shaped around Aston Villa and loan football, with Burton Albion giving him his most notable league run before Celtic. That spell was modest – four league appearances in 2022-2023 – but it was enough to keep him moving towards a more settled role.
At Celtic, Sinisalo has become part of the first-team picture rather than just another squad goalkeeper. Across two seasons he has made 18 appearances in all competitions, including 12 league appearances in 2025-2026, along with five in the Scottish Cup and one in the Europa League. He has also remained involved with Finland, making two World Cup qualifying appearances this season.
His first season at Celtic brought a Premiership title and a League Cup win in 2024-2025, as well as a Scottish Cup runners-up medal. For a goalkeeper still building his own body of work, that is a useful start without needing to pretend the story is complete.
Sinisalo’s current market value is around £850,000, according to Transfermarkt. He remains a current Celtic player and a regular first-team presence, with his career now far more closely tied to Glasgow than to the clubs that came before.
