FC Midtjylland are a modern Danish club, founded in 1999 and based at the MCH Arena. Their profile is familiar enough now: a relatively young institution with a sizeable squad, 37 players, and an average age of 24.
Their completed league campaign showed a side with clear attacking weight. At home they averaged 2.7 goals scored and 1.5 conceded per match, while away they still carried a decent threat, scoring 1.8 and conceding 0.8 on average.
Franculino Djú was the main finisher with 22 goals, backed by Júnior Brumado on 16 and Aral Şimşir on 12. They were capable of starting quickly too, scoring inside the first 20 minutes in five of their 16 league matches.
Their late league form was uneven rather than collapsing: a 2-3 defeat to Brondby followed draws with FC Nordsjaelland, Viborg and AGF Aarhus, after earlier wins over Sonderjyske and AGF Aarhus.
For Celtic supporters, Midtjylland are best viewed as a settled Danish opponent with enough scoring options to require proper attention, particularly at the MCH Arena. They are not a side to dress up, but neither are they one to ignore.
