Habib Maïga, born on 1 January 1996 (age 30), is an Ivorian central defensive midfielder whose senior career has been shaped above all by Metz.
His early development included a loan spell that helped move him from promise into regular first-team football, but it was at Metz that his career settled into its clearest pattern. Across six seasons there, he made 128 league appearances and scored seven league goals, becoming a steady presence rather than a headline act.
His most productive league season came in 2018-2019, when he scored two goals in 16 appearances for Metz. That tells the story well enough: Maïga’s value was never built around numbers in the final third, but around structure, coverage and the less glamorous work in midfield.
He later moved on to Ferencvaros, where his 2026-2027 involvement includes one Europa League appearance. In total, he has made one appearance for the Hungarian club across all competitions.
Maïga’s career is best read through his long Metz spell, with Ferencvaros forming the later chapter. He has been a reliable defensive midfielder with a substantial body of league football behind him.
